Gifts Galore

I love, love , love the Christmas season for so many reasons. Of course I love it for what it represents and for all of the special time and holiday traditions I get to share with my family. But even more than that, I love it for the simple fact that it is a time of giving, which means I get to shop, shop, and shop some more. I can't stop! Even when I have exhausted all of my resources and bought gifts for everyone on my list, I still shop some more. I look for just a few more small gifts for everyone on my list. I think I may have an addiction.

J and I recently made a trip to NYC for his birthday, and he got to experience my addiction first-hand. The sales were incredible in New York at this time of year, and we spent our entire trip fighting the crowds to find just the perfect gifts, for ourselves and everyone else. I must say that I am lucky to have a husband who enjoys shopping, but even he has a limit. I remember those days...I used to have a limit too, but my mom would push me a little harder, allowing me to become the marathon shopper that I am today. In fact, one time my mom and I were Christmas shopping and I was so tired  and my feet hurt so badly I told her I couldn't take one more step and it was time to go home, but she wasn't finished yet. So she bought me a pair of house-shoes and made me forge on. Yes, I was that person who wears house-shoes at the mall. J will learn; he IS learning.

Anyway, since there is ice on the ground, it is difficult to make our annual nightly trek to Utica Square to pick up some last minute gifts. So, I have been spending my time on the net looking for a few more things that people may like, and I came across the above handy-dandy tool, which I think some people may find helpful. It is called life.doc, and it can be found through Button-up, Amazon.com, and HSN, which is where I bought it because it cost less than the other sites. The notebook comes with a CD and allows you to compile all important information such as medical history and insurance information into one little book. Then, it is all together and organized and not spread all over the house like it is at this house. I thought these were so cool, I actually bought two. One is for my dad (I am pretty sure he won't read this, so I'm not worried about seeing it before Christmas), and the other is for...well, I guess it depends on how much I like it! But if you are like me and are still looking for some gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people in your life (I have several!), check out getbuttonedup.com where you will find life.doc and other cool organizational tools!

Dancing Lights

Ok, first off, I promise I will learn very soon how to add pictures to my posts; I am sure that will make them much more interesting. Anyway, what I want to say is this...if you have a chick-fil-a nearby, go there. Quickly. Unless it is the kind that is in the mall because that doesn't really count. J and I ate dinner there tonight... incredibly romantic, right? It was especially nice since we had just finished at the gym, so we had to make sure to get all of those burned calories right back into our bodies! Well, our local Chick-Fil-A was pimped out for Christmas! Remember that video that went around a year or two ago with the house that had the Christmas lights set to music? That's exactly what was going on here. The lights were flashing, and you could tune your radio to a certain station to listen to the music that was setting the beat. It was awesome! J said it was "nerdy," but he looked at me and said, "well, I guess you must like this since you have that s***-eating grin on your face." He was right. It made my night!

Happy Birthday Jizzle!

Today is my best friend and husband's birthday, and I want to publicly wish him a happy day (even though it is almost over)! I am almost positive he had a great one, but I can never say for sure. Here is what gives me that idea though...he had thanksgiving leftovers for breakfast, played golf with lots of beer all day, went out to a nice dinner with lots of wine, and got several awesome gifts, including a trip to NYC! Oh, and now, as I write this, he is laying on the couch watching football. So, what part of that day could a 30 year old man not love?

So, in honor of his 30th year, I am going to make a list. Thank you Annie, queen of listmaking, for the idea! Here it is....30 things about Hubbins!

1. The day we met he had black highlights in his red hair.
2. He LOVES onions, and eats them on EVERYTHING!
3. He can polish off an entire bottle of salsa in one sitting.
4. He is an awesome athlete; he even ran a half marathon without any training whatsoever.
5. He loves golf and would play 7 days a week if his wife was ok with that.
6. His favorite hobby is wine...buying it, drinking it, collecting it, talking about it, etc, etc.
7. He will not read. He has several great books, but he refuses to read any of them.
8. His favorite NFL team is the Denver Broncos, and he finally got to go to a game this year.
9. He LOVES watching sports, and he yells really loud at the t.v., mostly bad words.
10. He loves to shop, and he finds something he "needs" at every store...even Hobby Lobby.
11. He dances in the kitchen to make me laugh, and its really funny because its pretty bad.
12. He really likes to travel, but is scared to go anywhere "exotic" b/c of certain movies.
13. He is a much better cook than his wife.
14. He once told me he wanted to try out for American Idol, and I was very concerned for the person who gave him the impression that that would be a good idea.
15. He is a very friendly person and has a lot of great friends!
16. He secretly likes pedicures, but is too afraid of what people (his brothers) will say.
17. He will never allow our kids to jump on a big trampoline b/c of childhood experiences.
18. His favorite movie is Field of Dreams.
19. His favorite restaurant is Buffalo Wild Wings, a.k.a wizzle wamps.
20. His favorite bands are Amos Lee, The Format, and Dispatch, to name a few.
21. He has the best legs ever....I'm his wife...I can say that!
22. He will never admit when he's had too much to drink, and it drives me crazy.
23. He doesn't own a watch.
24. Did I say he loves wine?
25. He says he is sorry even when he's not, which can be really cute and really annoying!
26. He has a really fat cat who loves to "sleigh ride."
27. He will argue all day that beer is thirst quenching and root beer is not. I disagree.
28. He and my brother both have a strange interest in pirates.
29. He will tell you he is still 29. He has a complex about turning 30.
30. He has a wife who loves him more than anything! Happy birthday, babe!

Pink, Pink, Pink

If you know me or anything about me, you probably know that I am obsessed with the color pink. I love pink....everything pink. The other day, I had to take a doctor to work with me; it is something that we do every year for a group of residents in the area as part of a hospice awareness initiative. Anyway, after we visited a couple of my patients, we stopped at the gas station to get a soda, and I spotted some pink peanut M&Ms. I was not hungry, and I certainly didn't need a package of M&Ms, but I bought it anyway, just because it was cute. I'm pretty sure the Dr. thought I was weird. I think she even said so. Oh and along the same lines, I told Jizzle the other day that I would be interested in buying a motor home and traveling around the states IF we could get a pink Airstream. No, we're not 80; I just thought it would be cool...if it was pink. Ok, so I am sure you get the point.
Well, besides being the prettiest color of all, pink is also representative of something awesome, and that is breast cancer awareness. Besides the fact that October was breast cancer awareness month, I have had bc on my mind lately for a much different reason...a fun one! I know, bc and fun in the same sentence? Definitely. Way back in 2003, my brother and I participated in the Avon Breast Cancer 3 Day, a 60-mile walk from Ft. Worth to Dallas to raise money for bc prevention, education, and treatment. It was THE MOST AMAZING experience, and now I want to do it again. So, I am getting ready to sign up for another 3 day event, this time in Chicago or Boston, and I am looking for teammates! Please visit http://www.the3day.org for more information, and please consider joining me! I promise it will be an experience you will never forget! I will post periodically about my fundraising progress, and I hope that you will at least consider donating if you aren't able to actually participate!

What's in a Name?

I have been talking about starting my own blog forever....at least ever since I realized I have an obsession with reading everyone else's blogs. There's just something strangely interesting in "peering" into the lives of others, regardless of whether or not you know them. In fact, I thought I "knew" a particular girl/sorority sister of mine until I started reading her blog. Instead, I came to realize that she is much more interesting than the shy KAO I knew in college, AND she leads a fabulous life in a fabulous city where she is married to an actor....very glamorous I must say. So, I figure if I am going to spend so much time delving into the lives of so many other people (strangers), I may as well put some of my greatest secrets out there...in cyberspace....for all the world to see. Wow, that's kinda scary!
Ok, so what's in a name? Who on earth would name their blog "Mizzle's Blizzle?" you ask. Well, that would be my sweet husband, Jizzle. Yes, his name is Josh, but if he is going to call me Mizzle, I am going to call him something equally unintellectual....is that a word?. When I first started talking about starting a blog, Jizzle told me that when I did I would have to name it Mizzle's Blizzle. He thinks he is a rapper or something; I am not exactly sure. But to make this story short, Mizzle is derived from the word ma, moi, moist. Wow, that was hard for me to say/ type, since I think it is the most obnoxious word in the English language. My original nick-name was "T," which became "T-Pot," and then was changed to "T-Moist" when Jizzle's friend learned how much I hate the word. Then, it was "T-Mizzle" and was finally shortened to just "Mizzle," which I guess is the rap version of the former. So, that is where the name of this blog came from....interesting/stupid/immature whatever, but now you know. I am Mizzle, and this is my blizzle!
